About

Beading can feel a bit tedious at first.

Finding the right colorway. Planning the dimensions and pattern. Working within the limitations of shape, thread, and the tiny thickness of a bead’s center. Once you begin a piece, you’re committing yourself to a journey filled with obstacles and wonder. Sound familiar?

For a long time, I struggled with this mundaneness of life. I craved intensity, beauty, novelty- something cinematic. But over time, I’ve learned that routine, structure, and rest are actually what steady me. Meditation, bouts of sobriety, therapy (lots of therapy), and this craft, have all brought me closer to center. They’ve taught me that balance isn’t boring, it’s freeing, healing, and necessary.

Beading became a way to practice that balance. It forces slowness. It asks for patience. It doesn’t rush. And in that rhythm, I found something grounding.

I make what feels balanced, strange, thoughtful, and lasting to me. Each piece is built bead by bead, slowly and intentionally. Small works of wearable art meant to live with you over time.

Obsessed with shape, color, texture, and the quiet ritual of making, I’m honored to share this practice with you. Ugly Sun is my reminder to return to center, to embrace both warmth and shadow, and to accept that life is layered. Sometimes harsh. Sometimes soft. It’s the tension between the two that makes it interesting.

Thanks for being here.
