About

Beading. It's a tedious craft. Finding the right color way, planning the dimensions and  pattern, battling the limitations of the shapes and threads and the thickness of the bead's center. Knowing that whatever project you start, you have to feel fairly confident in it's outcome or come to peace with the lost time, because it's a long journey to the tie off.

I always struggled with the mundaness of life and it took me a long time to realize that  it's routine and typicality is now actually one of my favorite parts and something I rely on quit a bit.

I'm good at romanticizing life. Finding the beauty or strange in anything, making everything feel like an adventure, but hoping every moment will feel that way was tiring and unrealistic. Meditation, bouts of sobriety, therapy (lots of therapy), and this little craft has granted me more acceptance and  balance. Blissful balance!

So, Ugly Sun? Beause let's be real, there is nothing ugly about our girl, Sun.

Ugly Sun is an ode to balance, harmony, duality, and complexity. Whether you are too close or too far from the sun, being in the extremes leaves you void of comfort (when most of the time comfort is exactly what you were seeking to begin with). It is a reminder to make your way back to center, to not seek  too much of anything. A reminder that life is both ugly and warm, and that that complexity and duality is what makes it interesting and beautiful.

Beading has enabled me to slow down, appreciate the length of the day, and the slowness and light of the sun. Obsessed with strange shape and color, and art, I'm honored to share my craft with you and hope you enjoy.

Thanks for being here,

Claire
